I’ve reblogged this gentleman before, because his posts are always short and wise. I particularly enjoyed this one. Check him out!

Okay lovelies, this is the final installment of my interview with Malcolm Deegan. In this final section, Mr. Deegan and I explored his creative process for the film, questions of directing and casting, the struggles inherent to the indie artist, and his personal thoughts on the success of the film. I asked these questions because they are the kinds of questions I always wish I could ask a screenwriter/director and have never before had access. Therefore, behold my Malcolm Deegan Brain Feast and enjoy the deliciousness! (more…)

Okay fellow feasters, it’s time to gird your underbellies and get ready to wander through some pretty thick woods with me and Mr. Deegan. During our interview, I asked Malcolm some pointed questions about some definitely squirm-worthy topics and I’m ecstatic to report he never shied away. “Fractional” visited some sober themes and motifs and flaunted a snaky, thought-provoking and brutal story line. In this section of the interview, I asked Malcolm about the content of his film. Together, he and I explored the grittiest and most terrifying concepts that made an appearance on Malcolm Deegan’s screen. (more…)

Behind every great horror flick is the mind of a brilliant director. In the case of “Fractional,” that mind belongs to Malcolm Deegan.

“Fractional” is Malcolm Deegan’s debut indie project, a film he wrote, directed, and produced despite numerous disasters and interruptions. To say this man is devoted to his craft would be a serious understatement. “Fractional,” for those of you who haven’t yet seen it, is an intense and mysterious psych thriller, slow and steady in delivery with a crescendo of horror that culminates in a shocking ending I never saw coming. The storyline follows two men–John Hatchett, a psychiatrist with a questionable at best approach to caring for his patients, and David Crowe, previously a patient of John’s and hell-bent on deconstructing his doctor’s personhood through any horrible means at his disposal. I don’t want to go too far into the synopsis here, as “Fractional” boasts a tricky storyline and any little thing I might say could potentially ruin this film for you. Suffice it to say that the single sentence I’ve given you is both all you need to enjoy the movie and sinfully inadequate as a proper description for “Fractional.” I’m not the only one that found the story in “Fractional” brilliant, either, as the film won best screenplay from the Independent Filmmaker’s Showcase and was an official selection of the 2012 Underground Cinema Film Festival. If you haven’t yet, go check out the “Fractional” website at http://www.fractionalfilm.com. (more…)

Good morning my fellow lovers of Under-Belly! I’m so excited to announce that I am currently working on an interview project with Malcolm Deegan, an indie horror screenplay writer and movie director from Ireland and definitely one scary and brainy dude. His debut film, “Fractional,” made my skin crawl and my brain kick into high gear. “Fractional” won 2012 best screenplay from the Independent Filmmakers Showcase and was an official selection of 2012 Underground Cinema Film Festival.
“Fractional” is an amazing film for a number of reasons that I won’t yet divulge. If you’re curious, as I am, about the inner workings of horror minds, please stop by Morsels for Monsters and check out the interview with Malcolm on Monday, July 22nd 2012.
In the meantime, support your fellow indie and check out the “Fractional” website: http://www.fractionalfilm.com. You can rent the movie or order the DVD and believe me when I tell you that this film is worth the $3.2o U.S.D.
I’ll see you all in a few short weeks with some great info on the film, production, and the brain capable of creating such discomfort with my Malcolm Deegan interview!
And as always, my fellows, thank you for all your continued support!

For the last couple of days, I’ve been laid up with a bum neck. Since typing is no easy feat when you can only move one shoulder, I was prohibited from writing and was left instead to spend all my time on research. Even one-handed, I can still mouse. But thanks to my chiropractors miraculous hands coupled with the miracles of modern pharmaceuticals, I can finally move today. This means I’ll be off to my day job in a couple hours, but first, I get to share with you the helpful stuff I discovered while I was down and out. Even injury has its rewards, I guess! (more…)
